Magazine Ad
After reading the art director and client comments, I explored the festival's website to grasp a better understanding of what the festival was about. When I was going through the pictures on the website I noticed a lot of different textures of the color, brown. As I was reading the information that we had to include in our magazine ad, the word canyon came across my eyes. Therefore I wanted to choose a canyon color to apply a gradient with my picture. Since the festival takes place in Laguna Beach, California. I decided to find a picture of the sun setting on the shoreline of Laguna Beach. I chose it because the picture symbolized a relaxing, calming, and inviting atmosphere to people. The black text on the ad provides an excellent readable contrast. The title, date and location of the event are placed precisely on the top so that the reader sees it first. The main description about the event is directly underneath the picture placed in a paragraph format. The information under "you'll also enjoy:" was bulleted with paintbrushes to convey the idea of an artistic view of the event. The non-profit section was put in italics with an asterisk beside it, because that seemed very important. It lets the reader know what's its mission is. The website is at the very bottom to provide additional information, as well as their logo. Hopefully this magazine ad met the requirements of the art director and the client, and can bring success to the sawdust art festival in the summer.
